I love this time of year.
The Christmas music, presents, holiday treats, Christmas lights, Santa, decorations, wrapping presents… All of it!
I love it even more now that I have kiddos of my own.
Evan and I can hardly wait for Christmas morning to see them get so excited over their presents! I can’t wait.
I seriously haven’t even thought about what I want for Christmas…
Evan keeps asking me but I feel like I already have everything I need. Really.
Lately, I’ve been trying to focus more on the true meaning of Christmas.
It’s so easy for me to get wrapped up in all the other stuff. I think it’s just about finding a good balance between the two.
Today I thought It would be good to put all the holiday stuff aside and focus on teaching the boys more about the true meaning of Christmas. Christ.
I googled an image of a manger scene and printed it off for the boys to color while I read them the story of Bethlehem.
The boys are still pretty young, but they did a pretty good job at coloring and listening to the story. Of course there were many interruptions and a couple fights over the same color of crayon (even though they had a lot to choose from) but I think it’s important to start teaching them while they’re young even if they don’t understand everything right now. Someday they will.
After they finished their masterpieces, we hung them up in their room next to their other artwork. Then we had snack time and watched Elmo’s World.
